Dominic Brandy, MD, Publishes Advancements to Popular Facial Surgery in Leading Medical Journal

Pittsburgh, PA - January 16, 2006 - In a recent publication of The American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, Pittsburgh-based, board-certified cosmetic surgeon and developer of the QuickLift®, Dominic A. Brandy, MD, describes two advancements to the minimally invasive outpatient procedure, giving patients longer-lasting results with enhanced aesthetic improvements.

The QuickLift® is a revolutionary facial rejuvenation procedure that tightens sagging skin in the lower region of the face and offers patients significant improvement immediately following the surgery. The most notable improvement for the patient is the addition of a submental tuck with undermining or liposuction of the neck and jowl. This variation of the original QuickLift® procedure creates a smoother neckline, which complements the firmer jawline. "With the original QuickLift® procedure, we were performing a small submental tuck with undermining or liposuction of the neck and jowl so often that it has become a mainstay to the procedure," said Dr. Brandy, founding medical director of The Skin Center Medical Spa. "This addition has a big impact on the final results. It gives patients a smoother, younger looking neck and jowl, which is a nice improvement to the QuickLift."

While the addition of the undermining or liposuction of the neck and jowl may enhance the patient's youthful appearance, it is the encircling double purse-string plication technique, a firmly anchored small oval-shaped purse string encircled by a larger purse- string, that provides stronger support to the soft tissue while improving the aesthetics of the midface. "From the patients perspective this advancement may seem a bit technical and inconsequential, but from a physician's vantage point, the addition of the double purse-string plication has dramatically improved the strength of the QuickLift, while offering added improvement to the midface," said Dr. Brandy. The final outcome is a longer-lasting result, with further rejuvenating effects for the patient.

Having performed over 800 QuickLift® procedures since 2004, Dr. Brandy is a leader in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation and continues to develop innovative techniques to give patients a natural looking result with the least amount of downtime.
