Dr. William J. Welsh is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic surgery procedures. An Art major in college, Dr. Welsh received a Masters Degree in Medical Illustration in 1971. Graduating from the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine in 1975, he did an Internship in general surgery and a residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at MCG. Dr. Welsh did his plastic surgery residency at Boston University and a fellowship at the Abteilung fur Wiederhellerstrung Chirugie in Vienna, Austria. Dr. Welsh opened his Augusta Cosmetic Surgery Practice in Augusta in 1981. He is a member of the clinical faculty at the Medical College of Georgia and frequently has residents from the Medical College of Georgia training at his offices. Dr. Welsh received an award for "Excellence in Cosmetic Surgery" for research in platelet gel applications in Plastic Surgery. He was one of four recipients of the award at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery meeting in Orlando, Florida in January, 2000. In October 2007 Dr Welsh was awarded the Lamartine Hardman Cup. The Cup is the highest award given by the Medical Association of Georgia. It is not given every year, but only when the Association wishes to recognize a physician for "Contributions to the Science of Medicine. |
